This is an original cylinder/hopper for a 1 1/2 or 1 3/4hp John Lauson Frost King Jr. It has a few extra holes in the hopper and the cylinder is pitted so it needs a sleeve or new bore. There are no cracks, breaks or repairs that I can see or know of. With a little elbow grease this would be a good replacement for a broken or beyond repair cylinder. It could also be a good candidate to make a tank-cooled Frost King Jr engine! Frost King Jr parts are quite tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets! If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration or to replace your broken or repaired one this may be your chance. The pictures tell the story. It would surely beat making one! Very nice original 2 1/2hp Lauson Model W with Alpha DeLaval tags on it. It’s sitting on the original skids and has the original cylinder oiler. No cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know other than a solder repair on the gas tank. Mag has hot spark and although I haven’t run it the previous owner said it runs good and I see no reason that it wouldn’t. It has good compression and also the original hinged crank guard. It shows lots of original paint and there’s plenty more to be uncovered under the grease on it. It will make a very nice show engine with minimal effort! Here is a rather scarce 1 1/2hp Fairbanks Morse Z with Sumter Plugoscillator ignition. Built only in 1919. Excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of. New gas tank at that time. Outstanding compression and very little wear anywhere on it. We put fresh gas in the starting side and it fired right up and ran nice! Has the original oiler, pulley, muffler, and serial tag on top of the head. This is a throttle governed engine that should make a great little engine for someone. It sits on the original skids, has the original crankguard, gear guard, muffler, pulley, and gas tank. Lots of original paint and pinstriping with more to be found under the grease, I’m sure! It has super compression and although I haven’t tried to run it I’m sure it wouldn’t take much as a previous owner had it running a few years ago. This is an original and estate fresh early Economy 2 1/2hp Model E hit and miss gas engine. It is in decent condition for its age but does have some battle scars as can be seen. The head has some old repairs and will need attention. The engine turns over as it should and almost everything interacts as it should. Everything is free on the engine except the valves. They move but are very stiff and will need to be removed for attention. The mixer has an extra hole in the back of it that will likely need to be filled. The engine is missing the Webster magneto and the ignitor bracket has been drilled for a spark plug. There is a slight crack on the side of the water jacket that I’ve pointed out and may need attention but probably won’t leak. The original gas tank looks quite solid. It has some original red paint in places as can be seen. In general this engine just needs a good going through and should be a pretty straightforward project! It’s a good chance to get into a true hit and miss engine at ground level. I can deliver for free (or a cold beverage) to Baraboo,, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. This is a pretty decent old 1 1/2hp Hercules hit and miss gas engine. It is in good shape with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of other than a missing choke plate. It appears that restoration was started as seen by the primer but the green paint is original paint. I’m not sure if the original paint is under the primer but I suspect it is. It is quite smooth like the flywheels. The valves have been redone but need to be lapped in. The head gasket and ignitor gaskets are new. The magneto and ignitor have good spark. It turns over as it should and there is very little wear on the gearing. It needs the rod bearing taken up but there are shims to remove. The original crank guard is on it. It will need a gas tank and a muffler as can be seen but these are available rather inexpensively as reproductions. With just a little effort this will be a really nice engine.
