Here is a Webster JY magneto. This one has an all brass case which seems to be very rare for a large Webster like it. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. Only very minimal bearing wear, the armature spins freely when the springs are removed except for the very strong magnetic pull. 2-9/16″ x 2-7/16″ mounting pattern. The mounting studs are all tight in there holes. This mag is for an igniter and will not fire a spark plug. Needs a new wire but that is extremely to replace. I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours. If you want advice on how to use it please give me a call and I’ll be glad to help. Please do not tear it apart to “clean it” or “paint it” and then try to return it or get me to pay for a rebuild because it stopped working. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for. If you haven’t caught on this is supposed to be mildly funny but yet serious at the same time. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper you I won’t take it back. This is an extremely hard to find original Webster magneto for an ignitor fired hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It is a model PY with 3 magnets. The magneto mounts on a 2 7/16 x 2 13/16 inch bolt pattern and was used on larger gas engines of the day. There is almost no noticeable wear in the bearings. I checked it just before I took the pictures and it puts out a nice, hot, blue spark that will surely run your engine if it is set up properly. There is very little wear on the trip finger. The threads in the mounting holes need attention in at least two of them. Two still have the studs in and may be usable but you may want to helicoil them as well. It has the original name band on it yet. It has a slight crack in one of the endplates that some space age adhesive should remedy pretty easily. It also has a chipped ear on that same endplate. It also needs a leadout cover. I’m pretty sure the endplates and leadout covers are the same as the Webster JY magnetos. It has new springs on it. These large PY magnetos are almost impossible to find in the wild or even at swap meets. I’ve only owned 3 of them in 20+ years. If you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up! It would also make a great spare on the shelf. Let the pictures be your guide. It is in good original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for the roller bracket on the front of the armature. It is a model K with 2 magnets. The magneto mounts on a 2 inch square pattern and was used on many gas engines of the day. There is almost no noticeable wear in the bearings. It is the better version with the all brass body. It needs a roller bracket and springs which are available rather inexpensively from several of the hobby suppliers. I checked it just before I took the pictures and it puts out a nice, hot, blue spark that will surely run your engine if it is set up properly. There is very little wear on the trip finger. The threads in the mounting holes are in great shape and have the original studs in them yet. It needs a new name band but those are available from several of the hobby suppliers as well. Here is a nice original Big Webster JY magneto for the 6hp and larger international harvester engine. This magneto is the one used on 6hp and up horizontal tank, screen, and hopper cooled engines. I recently recharged the magnets and it produces a beautiful thick blue spark. The bushings are nice and tight. The only small flaws are its missing its original band (they make new ones) it has a very small crack in the body as can be seen from the pics. Does not effect performance. And lastly it has a small piece busted off from the bottom back bolt hole. Also doesn’t not effect the performance and can’t be seen when mounted on bracket.
