Here is a pretty nice old 2 1/4hp Associated Hired Man hit and miss gas engine. It is fresh from an old collection where it lived for many years. It is in great shape with no cracks, breaks or repairs other than the missing speed changing screw and some heavy solder and a new filler neck on the original embossed gas tank. This could be cleaned up a bit and look a little more presentable if you so choose. It turns over nicely with decent compression and everything seems to move and function as it should. There is very little wear on the gearing or in the bearings. It is an earlier engine with the straight ignitor trip and I don’t think it ever had a magneto on it. It has the original belt pulley and name tag on it. I think with a little fresh gas and a battery and coil this engine would fire right up and make noise. This is one of the harder to find Associated sizes. It would be a fine addition to your early hit and miss engine collection or Associated lineup. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it.
